National leadership and feminist networks part 2: Marina Yamaoka

We are delighted to share with you a GLOW webinar in two parts, on the topic of: National leadership and feminist networks: two entry points for promoting gender equality in low-carbon, climate-resilient development. Insights from the African continent and Brazil.

The event is a two-part presentation and discussion from two leading feminist thinkers who have been studying the integration of gender equality and climate change mitigation in policy and practice.

In this part, we hear from Marina Yamaoka (Brazil), co-author of 'Strengthening climate resilience and women’s networks: Brazilian inspiration from agroecology’ by Cíntya Feitosa and Marina Yamaoka (2020). Watch Marina's presentation here:

In the other part, we hear from Charlotte Remteng (Kenya), lead author of ‘Gender in the nationally determined contributions of African countries: a way forward for effective implementation of adaptation and mitigation strategies’ by Charlotte Remteng, Johnson Nkem, Linus Mofor and James Murombedzi (2021). The purpose of the webinar is to highlight very different - and potentially complementary - ways of thinking about improving policy and practice at the intersection of gender equality and low-carbon development.

The research discussed here was not funded by GLOW, but was shared as part of GLOW's learning programme for scholars working in the field.

Charlotte’s and Marina’s works and unique perspectives were identified in the global literature review undertaken by CDKN and summarised by Mairi Dupar and Elizabeth Tan in this policy brief.
